FAQ
Frequently asked questions
What is Viso Gateway?
Viso Gateway is an edge device that securely connects existing cameras and video systems to Viso Now. It provides the local camera integration layer so teams do not need to build and maintain their own video ingestion infrastructure.
Which cameras can I connect?
Viso Gateway is designed for existing IP and CCTV camera environments using standard interfaces such as RTSP and ONVIF. It can also connect supported VMS, NVR and DVR sources. We confirm compatibility for your environment before shipping.
Do I need Viso Now?
Yes. Viso Gateway extends a Viso Now workspace with connectivity to local camera and video infrastructure.
Can we deploy Gateways at multiple locations?
Yes. Deploy Gateways where the camera systems are located and manage the connected environments through Viso Now.
Does AI inference happen on the Gateway?
The standard Viso Gateway is designed primarily for secure camera connectivity and media ingestion into Viso Now. Dedicated local AI inference and advanced edge execution are available through Viso’s enterprise edge products.
Which network ports are required?
The Gateway uses an outbound HTTPS connection to Viso over port 443. It also needs local network access to the cameras or video systems you configure. Exact routing and firewall requirements depend on your network architecture.
Do we need to expose our cameras to the internet?
No. The Gateway needs local access to the cameras or video system and an outbound connection to Viso Now. It is designed so cameras do not need to be exposed directly to the public internet.
How do I install the Viso Gateway?
The Gateway ships pre-configured for your Viso Now workspace. It is designed for simple on-site deployment and does not need an installation project.
Connect power and Ethernet to a network with access to your camera systems, then complete the guided setup in Viso Now.
Guided onboarding is included with the Gateway. Viso can help verify camera compatibility, network connectivity and the initial connection to your workspace.
